Drupokerootupe

Hello again!
For the first time in a very long time, I made time to not merely just read the Diva's challenge and contemplate it, but to complete it at the start of the week! Let me tell you, it felt really great!

Have you tried this week's challenge, a DuoTangle challenge featuring pokeroot and drupe, yet? These two tangles are not ones I use often. In fact, I'm not sure I have ever featured drupe on a tile or taught it in a class. Having used it to meet this challenge, I have discovered how much I like it.
So, without much fuss, here it it is.
Weekly Challenge #276: DuoTangle of pokeroot and drupe.
Hence my silly title:
"Drupokerootupe"
Now that I have shared that, I have so much more to write about! But all in good time. I need to pace myself. I have been wearing myself out this spring with all sorts of things--travel, hosting dinners and parties, keeping up with my teens and getting ready for--gulp!--graduation, and . . . TEACHING! I have had some great opportunities to share Zentangle come my way, and I am so happy to have been able to work some workshops and classes into my schedule. I'll tell you more and share some photos soon.

Happy tangling!

    1. Thank you, Beate! Teaching is my professional and creative passion. I have been an art teacher since the mid '90s, but I stepped away from the school system to focus on my family for a few years. I have purposely limited my class/workshop schedule these past few years so that I'd be available for all the things that just happen to pop up in our family's endeavors these last few years that the kids are home. When I am able to commit to a teaching opportunity, it brings me such very great joy to connect with learners of all ages & backgrounds--one of the great things about teaching in community venues rather than just a specific school.

  2. Really nice, especially, shading and highlights, I like how you managed the transitions too.

    1. Thank you, Lorna! It sure was fun letting these two tangles play together! I am not the only one who saw the potential to "grow" pokeroot at the end of the drupe "spokes", and I am enjoying seeing how others are merging them. :)

    1. Thank you! I love the depth that can be easily achieved with drupe! I am going to have to start including it in classes! I thought about adding more shading to pokeroot--to make them look more dimensional. But I got to a point where I was happy, and decided to put that off. I still might go back and add subtle shading to them, but I might not. ;-)

  4. You have to draw more the pattern Drupe, you did it in a very nice way, I love the contrasts and the highlights in this tile. The combination of Drupe and Pokeroot is a real success!!!

    1. Thank you, Patty! It's such a natural way for these two tangles to transition from one to the other. I love seeing the same concept carried out in different ways by different artists. Subtleties of style and variations in our visions. Like the same dish prepared by different chefs.

    1. Thanks, Anja! It was great fun to do. I wasn't pleased with how it was going all the time, but I had faith that it would all work out in the end, and I think it did.
